HÜDA PAR MP calls for stricter measures against digital media corruption

HÜDA PAR MP Faruk Dinç has urged authorities to implement stringent measures and criminal sanctions against the negative influence of digital channels on society.
Speaking at a press conference held in the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, Dinç emphasized the role of digital platforms as a "soft power" in societal corruption.
Dinç began his address by expressing condolences to the people of Iran following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, and other officials. He wished patience and solace to their families and the Iranian nation.
Addressing the ongoing crisis in Palestine, Dinç highlighted the severe mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners by Israeli forces. He condemned the reported acts of torture and ill-treatment, including deprivation of basic needs, medical abuse, and extrajudicial killings. "The occupying Israel is killing Palestinian prisoners with ill-treatment and torture," Dinç stated. He called for international accountability, mentioning efforts by South Africa and Turkey to bring these issues before the International Court of Justice.
Turning to domestic issues, Dinç criticized the impact of disinformation and harmful content on social media. Despite the enactment of the Law on Combating Disinformation in 2022, he argued that the measures taken have been insufficient. "Disinformation, character assassination, and indecent targeting children, youth, and the family institution are still widespread on social media channels," he noted.
Dinç also raised concerns about television broadcasts that he claimed promote immorality and criminal behavior. He called on the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) and other relevant bodies to enforce stricter supervision and penal measures against such content. "The protection of our children, the protection of our youth, the protection of the family institution is the most important first issue of this country," Dinç asserted.
In conclusion, Dinç called for comprehensive actions to safeguard societal values and protect vulnerable groups from the corrupting influence of digital and media channels. (ILKHA)
