A high-ranking delegation from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Interior has attended the China International Security Conference, where it stressed the need for greater cooperation among countries to confront emerging security threats.

Speaking on behalf of the ministry, the Afghan delegation’s representative said Afghanistan had entered a new phase of security and stability and reaffirmed that Afghan territory would not be allowed to be used against other countries.

The representative emphasized that Afghanistan’s security is closely connected to the security and stability of the wider region, calling for stronger coordination among neighboring countries and international partners.

The Afghan official highlighted the growing importance of security cooperation between Afghanistan and China, particularly in areas related to counterterrorism, law enforcement and the exchange of professional expertise.

The delegation also stressed the importance of joint efforts to combat narcotics trafficking and organized crime, describing these issues as shared security challenges requiring coordinated regional responses.

According to the ministry, cooperation could include the exchange of experience, specialized knowledge and professional training to strengthen the capabilities of security institutions.

The Afghan representative reiterated Kabul’s position that Afghan territory would not be used as a base for attacks or other hostile activities against foreign countries.

The pledge comes as Afghanistan seeks to deepen security and diplomatic ties with neighboring states while presenting itself as a source of regional stability rather than insecurity.

The ministry said continued engagement with China and other regional partners would help strengthen security cooperation and address common threats.

The conference provided an opportunity for Afghan officials to present their security priorities and discuss mechanisms for closer cooperation with participating countries.

Kabul’s participation also reflects its broader efforts to expand regional engagement and establish stronger security partnerships based on mutual interests, sovereignty and non-interference. (ILKHA)
