Afghanistan, Iran, and Türkiye have reached an agreement to establish a new trade corridor aimed at facilitating the transportation of Afghanistan's mineral products, officials announced.
The agreement was revealed by Amir Tawakuli Roudi, a member of Iran's Parliament Commission on Industries and Mines, following a recent visit to Kabul. Speaking to Iran's Tasnim News Agency, Roudi confirmed that discussions with officials from the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan resulted in a commitment to launch the Iran-Afghanistan-Türkiye trade corridor.
The trade corridor is designed to streamline the export of Afghanistan’s rich mineral resources. Roudi highlighted the country’s vast mineral potential, suggesting that Iran’s technical expertise could be utilized to process these raw materials into finished products, adding value to Afghanistan’s natural wealth.
"Iran's capabilities in technical industries can play a vital role in refining Afghanistan’s mineral resources and boosting trade between the three nations," Roudi stated.
This development underscores growing regional cooperation between Afghanistan, Iran, and Türkiye, with a focus on economic integration and mutual benefit. While the corridor primarily aims to support Afghanistan’s mining industry, it is also expected to enhance trade connectivity and bolster economic ties among the three countries.
Further details on the timeline for the corridor’s implementation and its operational specifics are anticipated in the coming months. This initiative marks a significant step in fostering regional economic collaboration and utilizing Afghanistan’s untapped mineral wealth to promote development. (ILKHA)
