Sudanese state-controlled media outlets reported that there had been a coup attempt in the country but the plotters had failed.

The plotters attempted to take control of state radio in Omdurman, across the River Nile from the capital.

The leaders of the attempted coup have been arrested and are under investigation, officials said.

On April 11, 2019, the Sudanese military overthrew President Omar Al-Bashir in a coup d’etat.

At that time the army, led by Ahmed Awad Ibn Auf, toppled the government and National Legislature and declared a state of emergency in the country for a period of 3 months, followed by a transitional period of two years before an agreement was reached later. (ILKHA)
