Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with representatives of U.S.-based think tanks at the Turkish House (Türkevi) in New York as part of his diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The gathering was coordinated by the Presidency’s Directorate of Communications and the Foundation for Political, Economic and Social Research (SETA), bringing Erdoğan together with figures from the U.S. policy and research community. The meeting was held behind closed doors, and no detailed statement was immediately issued on the discussions.

The meeting provided an opportunity for an exchange of views with U.S. think tank representatives during Erdoğan’s visit to New York, where Türkiye has been pursuing an intensive diplomatic agenda alongside the UN General Assembly.

Erdoğan arrived in New York to attend the 81st UN General Assembly and hold a series of bilateral and multilateral meetings. He has been accompanied by senior members of his government, including Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır and Trade Minister Ömer Bolat.

The Türkevi, located across from the United Nations headquarters in Manhattan, has served as a major venue for Erdoğan's meetings during his New York visit. The Turkish president has held talks there with a number of foreign leaders and senior officials, addressing bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments.

The engagement with U.S. think tanks also comes as Ankara and Washington continue discussions on a broad range of issues, including political and economic relations, defense cooperation, regional security and developments in the Middle East.

SETA, which coordinated the gathering, is a Türkiye-based research organization focusing on political, economic and social issues and regularly conducts research and policy analysis on Türkiye-U.S. relations and international affairs.

Erdoğan’s New York program forms part of Türkiye’s broader diplomatic efforts during the UN General Assembly, with Ankara seeking to engage international policymakers and counterparts on conflicts, regional security, economic cooperation and other global issues. (ILKHA)
