Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said Sunday that its forces targeted a U.S. aircraft carrier and a destroyer with multiple ballistic missiles, forcing the warships to withdraw from the conflict zone after sustaining damage.

According to a statement issued by the IRGC, the attacks were carried out in response to what it described as provocative and hostile actions by U.S. naval forces against Iranian vessels and Washington’s efforts to enforce a naval blockade against Iran.

The IRGC said its forces successfully confronted the U.S. warships with a coordinated missile operation, demonstrating Iran’s ability to defend its maritime interests and respond decisively to military pressure.

Iranian authorities described Washington’s reported acknowledgment that two U.S. naval vessels had come under attack as significant, portraying it as evidence that the United States could no longer conceal the consequences of its military actions against Iran.

The IRGC characterized the acknowledgment as “living proof” of a strategic defeat for the United States, while emphasizing that the reported operation demonstrated the offensive capabilities of Iran’s armed forces.

The IRGC issued a strong warning that continued U.S. military actions would trigger further Iranian responses.

The force said Washington should expect “terrible responses” from Iran’s armed forces if hostile operations continue, stressing that Tehran would not back down in the face of military pressure.

The statement portrayed Iran’s military response as part of a broader effort to defend the country’s sovereignty, maritime security and national interests against what Tehran regards as foreign aggression.

“We are standing stronger than ever. Victory belongs to the resistant nation of Islamic Iran, and defeat and regret is the certain fate of the aggressors,” the IRGC said.

The reported confrontation comes amid heightened tensions between Tehran and Washington and growing military activity in the region. Iran has repeatedly warned that attempts to restrict its maritime movement or threaten its vessels would be met with a forceful response.
