Two Palestinians killed by Israeli fire in Gaza as ceasefire violations continue
At least two Palestinian civilians were killed by Israeli occupation forces in separate incidents across the Gaza Strip on Friday, as Israel continued to violate the ceasefire agreement for the 78th consecutive day, according to local sources.
Palestinian media reported that Israeli forces shot and killed a young man in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, an area from which the Israeli army was supposed to have withdrawn under the terms of the truce. Eyewitnesses identified the victim as Uday al-Maqadmah, who was targeted by Israeli sniper fire while sitting outside Hafsa School, a facility currently sheltering displaced families in the camp.
Later the same day, another young Palestinian was killed after coming under fire from Israeli forces in the eastern areas of Gaza City, further raising the death toll amid ongoing Israeli attacks despite the declared ceasefire.
In addition to the fatal shootings, Israeli occupation forces carried out a series of aggressive military actions across the enclave. Three separate demolition operations targeted civilian residential buildings in eastern Gaza City, particularly in areas east of the al-Tuffah neighborhood, causing further destruction to already devastated communities.
Israeli warplanes also launched at least one airstrike on Gaza City in the early hours of Friday. The strike coincided with explosions from booby-trapped armored vehicles detonated near al-Batsh cemetery, east of al-Tuffah, intensifying fear among residents.
Local residents reported sustained Israeli artillery shelling on eastern Gaza City, while Israeli helicopters were seen opening fire toward Rafah in southern Gaza. Additional attacks involving warplanes, tanks, and naval gunboats were also reported in various parts of southern Gaza, underscoring the ongoing military pressure on the besieged territory.
Palestinian sources stress that these attacks constitute blatant violations of the ceasefire agreement and reflect Israel’s continued disregard for civilian lives and international humanitarian norms. As Gaza’s population struggles to recover from months of devastating war, such repeated assaults further deepen the humanitarian catastrophe and undermine any prospects for lasting calm. (ILKHA)
