UK expands Russia sanctions list, adds 85 individuals and entities
The United Kingdom has expanded its Russia-related sanctions list, adding 85 new individuals and entities as part of ongoing measures linked to the war in Ukraine.
The UK Treasury announced that the updated sanctions package targets a wide range of figures and organizations accused of supporting activities undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Among those sanctioned are Vladislav Golovin, identified as chief of staff of the Yunarmiya youth movement, and Grigory Gurov, head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh).
The sanctions also include the Institute for Internet Development, several employees of the Agency for Social Design, Sevastopol State University, and facilities linked to a resort complex in Crimea.
Additionally, the Songdowon International Children’s Camp in North Korea was placed under sanctions, reflecting what officials described as broader international cooperation networks linked to Moscow.
According to the UK Treasury, the individuals and entities were targeted due to their alleged involvement in activities that contribute to destabilizing Ukraine and weakening its sovereignty.
Officials in London said the move is part of continued efforts to increase economic and political pressure on Russia, with the aim of limiting its ability to sustain military operations.
The announcement follows a previous round of sanctions introduced on May 5, when the UK added 35 individuals and entities connected to Russia. (ILKHA)
