Afghan mujahid released from U.S. prison after nearly two decades
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has announced the successful release of Khan Mohammad, an Afghan Mujahid who had been serving a life sentence in the United States.
In a press statement, the ministry credited long-standing and fruitful negotiations between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the United States for the release. Khan Mohammad, who was arrested in Nangarhar nearly two decades ago, had been imprisoned in California.
The Islamic Emirate extended its gratitude to Qatar for its pivotal role in facilitating the talks, highlighting the release as a significant example of resolving disputes through dialogue.
This development marks a notable moment in the ongoing diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and the U.S., emphasizing the potential for negotiated solutions in addressing longstanding issues. Further details about the terms of the agreement or conditions of Mohammad's release have not yet been disclosed. (ILKHA)
